General Information:
The O.W.L. which stands for Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society is a non-profit organization whose volunteers are dedicated to public education and the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned birds. The Facility specializes in raptors. Birds of prey injuries at O.W.L. number over two hundred each year and as O.W.L.'s facilities have expanded. It provides visitors to see these birds up close and learn about their important role in the ecosystem.

Age Group:
All ages, especially older children who love birds.

Babies: This is not an activity designed for infants, however they'll enjoy seeing the birds with their older siblings or friends.

Toddlers: This is not an activity designed for toddlers, however they'll enjoy seeing the it with their older siblings or friends. They might enjoy so the birds moving or flying around.

Older children: Older kids will also enjoy the up close and personal with the birds. They can learn all about the birds and how they live. They will truly enjoy learning about the birds on what they eat, how they live and what their species are like.

Hours of Operation:
OWL is on call seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. But they are only open to the public which they call an Open House and it is held every Saturday and Sunday for the public from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

What is there to Do and See?
Over twenty birds of prey are permanent residents and assist with their educational programs. Annually, over 12,000 elementary school children come to have a close-up view of owls, hawks, and eagles. A twenty minute video and/or visual aids are part of the one hour tour. On your visit you might see bald and golden eagles, barn owls, perhaps a falcon all rescued and released to nature when they are well.

Gift Shop: The O.W.L. gift store is located inside the Interpretation Centre. It is generally open only on the weekend but all items are available at any time online. All proceeds from the sale of gift store items goes of course, to O.W.L.
Displays will allow visitors to "walk through" the habitat of the many birds of prey from hawks to eagles to the various owls. You will be able to "visit" the birds in their own environment and gain more information on these wonderful creatures, their life and the threats to their environment.
