Summer is around the corner...Here are some activities to enjoy outdoors!

•My most favorite thing to do is to take in all the free family events in the lower mainland, most are free or charge a small fee. Parades, festivals, family events and more check out Kids Vancouver's event section to find an fun friendly event near you!

•Walking/Hikes - Take a Hike - Throw on a daypack, bring plenty of water and get out there and explore. Trail Suggestions

Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary Located in Delta, over 230 species of birds. Be sure to bring bird feed and a picnic lunch. Kids love chasing and feeding the birds while enjoying a nice outdoor walk.

•Visit a Beach – visit a beach to swim, play in the sand, play sports, lots of beaches to visit in Vancouver! Don't forget to bring some snacks, fluids and sunscreen! Vancouver beaches and White Rock Beaches

•Visit Steveston, pack a picnic, buy fish and chips near the pier, eat it on the beach, enjoy ice cream, visit the wonderful shops, see the boats, buy some fish or prawns to bring home for dinner, num!

•Crescent Beach -Take a relaxing stroll down the walkways of Crescent Beach. Go for a swim in the water, enjoy the sand and build sandcastles or try and find some sea creatures. Bring a picnic or enjoy food at a nearby restuarant or an ice cream.

•Roller-skating

•Bike – Go Biking or Rent bikes at the eastern end of the park and ride around the sea wall to English Bay. Relax for a bit, enjoy the beach with a packed picnic lunch or go to a near by cafe, then ride back through beautiful nature. Or, you can also rent bikes on Denman St., near the corner of Georgia St. Other great bike trails around the lower mainland click here.

•Bike, Walk or Roll Around the Seawall - It doesn't matter how you get around the Seawall, what matters is that you do it! The Seawall is long and wide, but it still gets mighty busy. Try it early in the morning or just enjoy the slower pace and enjoy it all with the crowd.

•Boating – Rent a boat or take your boat out for some water sports, fishing or sightseeing!

•Forests and Bogs – Go to a forest and enjoy the nature, walking, biking, hiking, bird-watching, find critter crawlers, and maybe even spot some mammals! Visit Deltas Burns Bog, Stanley Park and many more!

•Enjoy the beautiful Parks & Playgrounds, swings, slides...what kid doesn't enjoy it! 

•Frisbee Disk Golf

•Skateboarding - lots of skateboard parks available for kids

•Outdoor Miniature Golf at Castle Fun Park in Abbotsford or Bear Creek Part Train & Miniature Golf in Surrey.

Camping - Take the family, get out of the city and back to nature! Leave the electronic toys at home and enjoy the surroundings.

•Swimming & Water Parks - most are opened in the end of May!

•Fitness for kids and parents to do together – outdoor swimming, golf,  tennis,  lawn bowling, soccer, badminton, volleyball, walking, running and lots of other otdoor sports!

•Horseback riding

•Kite-Flying – depending of course on the weather, go to the beach, school field, even yoru backyard and fly a kite! Also once a month the BCKA, British Comumbia's Kite Association goes to various locations around the lower mainland. You can ask them quesitons, or simply watch their beautiful kites in the air! Capilano Suspension Bridge- Enjoy the trails, the unique suspension bridge, tree tops, nature and more!

•Paddling - Rent a canoe or Kayak – enjoy the water, beautiful scenery and tranquilty.

•Waterslides!! Splashdown Park (Tsawwassen - right off Highway 17) or head out to Bridal Falls Water Park (Chilliwack - right off Highway 1) 

SeaBus Terminal – Take the ferry to Lonsdale Quay. Kids love riding the 15 minute seabus! While you are there enjoy the Lonsdale Quay with fresh foods, kid shops and play areas.

Playland - BC's famous amusement park features over 30 exhilarating rides, unique attractions and fun midway games!
