Participate in Research at UBC's Pediatric Audiology Lab

Help us understand how early auditory experience affects brain development by participating with your child!

Infants and toddlers are required for this study. We are interested in studying the role that early experience with sounds plays in the development of language. By recording electrophysiological responses (ERPs) from sensors attached to the head, information about infant’s speech perception will be obtained. This is a low-risk study with no invasive procedures. A quick hearing screening will also be conducted.

If your child is between 0 and 4 years old, has no middle-ear infections and no history of neurological problems, s/he may be eligible to participate.

Participation involves only 1 session, which takes approximately 1.5-2.0 hours. All testing will be conducted in our lab at UBC. You will be reimbursed for the parking and a t-shirt will be given to your infant for participating in the study.
