The
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden Society, incorporated in 1981, is a self-sustaining,
not-for-profit organization with the mandate to maintain and enhance
the bridge of understanding between Chinese and Western cultures,
promote Chinese culture generally and be an integral part of the
local community.
Fifty-two
master craftsmen from Suzhou China, working with Canadian counterparts,
completed this landscape masterpiece within a year. The intricate
halls and walkways are constructed with precise joinery and without
the use of nails, screws or glue. The Garden opened on April 24,
1986.

What
is there to Do and See?
Make a trip to Chinatown and then come relax and experience a
"pocket-sized other world" at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical
Chinese Garden, named as one of 1,000 Places to See Before You
Die. Through stories, touchable artifacts and demonstrations see
what life was like for a 15th century scholar and his family.
Remember to keep your eyes open for all themystical and not-so-mystical
creatures! It is more of an adult tour you can take but you can
tell the kids in your own words on how the garden was built. There
is a garden next door that is free to the public (also part of
Sun-Yat-Sen), the young ones enjoy the kid-size bamboo “forest”.
Gift Shop
Gift giving is an ancient tradition that shows love and respect
for friends and family. With a wide selection of exquisite Chinese
treasures and collector’s items in the Gift Shop. Open during
Garden hours. All sales and proceeds from the Garden Gift Shop
go towards maintaining and enhancing the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical
Chinese Garden' educational programs and services.
