Location:
The Granville Island Model Ships, and Model Trains Museums is located on Granville Island in the heart of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Granville Island is under the south end of the Granville Street Bridge which connects Downtown Vancouver with Kitsilano and the Granville South district.

General Information:
Granville Island Sport Fishing, Model Ships and Trains Museum features exceptionally detailed, really big models of the ships and trains of the early 1900s. You'll get a sense of what it was like to live on and work on these wonderful boats and machines. You'll also see more flies than you could imagine tying and the world's largest salmon.

Babies: Not appropriate, but fine if they tag along with other kids.

Toddlers & Older children: Children who have interest in trains, fishing and boats will love this visit!

What is there to Do and See?
Trains:
The Granville Island Model Trains Museum is a world class Vancouver attraction and home to the largest collection of model and toy trains on public exhibition anywhere. Located Granville Island in Vancouver one of the museums attractions is an unbelievable working diorama of many collectable trains, including: The Royal Hudson, Lionel Trains, "O" Gauge, "G" Gauge, Standard Gauge, Steam Locomotives and many more toy trains. The Model Trains Museums are based on Granville Island in the heart of Vancouver BC and is one of Vancouver's world class attractions.

In addition to the hundreds of models on display, the beautifully detailed operational layout brings the world of model trains to life right in front of your eyes. Within the layout there are four individual lines supporting The Royal Hudson, BC Electric, CN, and CP stock. Additionally, the lines run on three levels; from ocean floor to mountain passes, which give the layout some pretty impressive altitude.

• The worlds largest collection of model and toy trains on public display.
• There is an 80-foot-long diorama of Kettle-Valley-like terrain with almost 1000 feet of train track.
• There are beechwood cabinets lining the walls, filled with sets that run the gamut from turn-of-the-century tin wind-up trains to contemporary collectors' scale models.
• There are snowblower cars and dining cars and hand made engines that run on small pieces of coal.
• There's a rare pink Lionel train set, circa 1958 designed for girls.
• Houses more then 500 classic and antique reels, including the largest collection of Hardy Brothers reels on public display anywhere in the entire world.
• Has more then 300 fly plates, again the largest collection on public display in the world
• Complimenting the reels, the museum also has a beautiful array of split-cane fly rods, creels, lures, videos, tackle and tributes to legendary fishermen like Roderick Haig-Brown
• There is a "Sport Fishing Simulator" where keen anglers can take their shot at wrestling a virtual 35 pound Spring Salmon to the boat.

The Granville Island Model Ships Museum is home to an impressive international exhibition of submarines, battleships, and toy boats. The Granville Island Museum attractions include large scale models of warships, sailing vessels, and various coastal work boats. The showpiece of the Granville Island Model Ships Museum is a 13 foot long cast bronze replica of the HMS Hood.
