Granville Island is under the south end of the Granville Street
Bridge which connects Downtown Vancouver with Kitsilano and the
Granville South district. Because it's in the middle of the city,
Granville Island is easy to get to. Its location on the south
shore under the Granville Street Bridge affords many options.

Information:
Developed in 1979 from what used to be an industrial wasteland
under the Granville Bridge, this island of treasures is a must
on any family's list.
An easy journey by
car, bus, bike-or boat-from any part of the city, Granville Island
is a-buzz with activity. Take in live free entertainment in the
waterfront courtyard. Sample freshly made fudge or warm donuts
in the Public Market. Wander along beside the houseboats, or chat
with authentic fisherfolk.

Don't make a special trip just with a baby. If the baby is accompanying
an older child, then by all means bring the baby along. He or
she is bound to get something out of the outing. Easy to Bring
them along while you shop and enjoy the outdoors!

filled with restaurants, theatres, galleries and studios, and
all things that are fresh: seafood, fruit, vegetables, plants,
flowers, candy, fudge, breads and baked treats.
Kids Market
was designed with kids in mind, you can play, shop, and eat –
all right at the market. Play in the ball pit, make a craft, or
shop in the many toy and child themed shops. Visit the pond and
play on the boat and watch the ducks and geese. In the summer,
Granville Island water park can’t be beat for cooling down,
and the surrounding playground and grass make for great kite flying
and picnicking areas.
Kids Market - 2 floors of unique shopping for kids and kids at
heart!
Not your usual plastic, mass-produced stuff by a long shot. Instead
this colourful building is home to a bustling play area and shops
selling all kinds of offbeat, handcrafted, and educational toys,
many of them locally made. Nifty junior-sized fashions too. Kids
Market is located on Granville Island in the heart of Vancouver.
Kids Market is next to the pond at the entrance to Granville Island
and has 28 shops, services and activities for children and their
families. Kids Market is housed in an old factory which is over
100 years old, two annex buildings and a train caboose. Shop and
play indoors or enjoy the patio and play area beside the pond!

Fun - we’ve got it! Family arcade, supervised play area,

Water Park: The largest free water park in North America is on
Granville Island. Open all summer, this wet wonderland is a great
place to linger with a picnic lunch, fresh from the Market.
Ferry: To reach the Island, you can drive, walk, cycle or try
the most-fun alternative, mini-ferry. Every two or three minutes,
cute little ferries buzz back and forth between Granville Island
and various mini-docks around False Creek.

Street Performers
add to the Island's festive atmosphere; clowns and jugglers, musicians
and magicians, balloon artists and face painters, flame throwers
and fire eaters, comedians and thespians all enchant passersby
into crowding around, applauding, and even sometimes participating
in the show.
The Granville Model Ships, and Model Trains Museum are located
on Granville Island in the heart of Vancouver, British Columbia,

The Kids Market, Public Market and Information Centre all have
baby change facilities. Stroller
rentals are also available at the Kids Market administration located
on the 2nd level.
From Victoria Day to
Labour Day, kids can burn excess energy at the Waterpark—the
largest free attraction of its kind in North America. Let the
kids roam free among the water pipes, sprays and slides—there
is even a toddlers only section. Hours: 10am–6pm daily.
Kids can also play
in one (or both!) of the two playgrounds on the Island—swing
to the sky
in Railspur Park, or explore the old machinery from the Island’s
days of heavy industry in the play area beside the False Creek
Community Centre.
Just a few dollars
will buy kids and adults a piece of False Creek boating life—hop
aboard the Aquabus or False Creek Ferries, which depart from docks
outside the Public Market.
Tips:
1. Enjoy Fish and chips on the seaside, lots of places to eat
fish and chips, kids love it and also the adults do too! Granville
Island is famous for their fish and chips! If not take a picnic
with you and eat along benches along the sea-side. Or buy fresh
deli, breads, fruits, veggies and much more from the public market…mmmm!
2. Bring bikes to bike around or even rollerblades to Granville
Island or even just walk and enjoy the scenic surroundings!
3. In the kid’s market there is a play area with a large
slide and climbing misc, but they do not allow shoes and they
do no allow bare feet, so bring socks for your little ones!
4. Stroller rentals available see Kids Market Admin on the second
floor!
5. Keep an entire day free for Granville Island as there is a
lot to see and do!
6. Sensible shoes. Sturdy walking shoes or light hikers
7. Sweater or fleece top, gloves. Advisable from November to March,
especially if you plan to get around on the water.
8. Knapsack or shoulder bag. Convenient for squirreling away a
few exotic groceries souvenirs.
