Balaclava Park
4594 Balaclava Street (@ W 29th Avenue)

This expansive park, located in a quiet neighbourhood, is a pleasant place for walking or jogging. Balaclava’s grassy fields are frequented by sports teams, neighbours, and children alike.

Recreation Facilities: Playground, Adult Softball, Dogs Off-Leash,
Lighted Field, Rugby Field, Running Track, Wading Pool

Chaldecott Park

4175 Wallace Street (@ King Edward Avenue)

Chaldecott offers a combination of large playing fields and smaller play areas; large old cedar trees shelter the playground area and rustle moodily on breezy days. During the summer, the spraypark is a popular attraction for children of the neighbourhood.

Recreation Facilities: Baseball Diamond, Field House, Playground, Soccer Field, Water/Spray Park

Deering Island Park
3530 Deering Island Pl. (@ Deering Island Place)

Located on a small island in the Fraser River, Deering Island Park is a semi-natural area perfect for enjoying the peaceful views of the river and tidal marshes. In late summer, the park is filled with dragonflies and the sweet scent (and flavour!) of blackberries.

Memorial West Park
4701 Dunbar Street (@ W 31st Avenue)

Memorial West Park’s lively playing fields and courts attract many people from the surrounding neighbourhood. A charming interplay of restrained, forested areas and manicured, active spaces, most people will find something wonderful waiting at this park. It is easy to get lost in thought wandering the trails that link the active sports areas with the peaceful woodland.

Recreation Facilities: Baseball Diamonds, Basketball Court, Community Centre, Field House, Lawn Bowling, Playground, Soccer Field, Tennis Court

Musqueam Park
4000 SW Marine Drive (@ Crown Street)

This large park is predominantly lush natural forest containing a series of trails enjoyed by those on horseback and foot alike. The fern- and thimbleberry-lined paths are often silent, except for the bird calls that bloom from the depths of the forest. A large clearing accommodates two soccer fields.

Recreation Facilities: Dogs Off-Leash, Soccer Fields

Quadra West Park
3250 Quadra Street (@ W 17th Avenue)

Hidden from most views, Quadra park is surrounded by lanes and houses, much like a commons or square. Currently, the park is a simple, open lawn.

Valdez Park

3210 W 22nd Avenue (@ Balaclava Street)

A small open park, Valdez is a nice place to enjoy some sunshine or play ball. Large plane trees line the perimeter, making this park a pleasant place to stop by on an evening stroll.

Recreation Facilities: Dogs Off-Leash
