11am – 2pm
Watch a traditional form of Chinese folk art that uses hot, liquid sugar to create two and three dimensional figures. Walk away with a tasty edible art piece. Location: Public Market, Southwest entrance
11am – 12:30pm & 2pm – 3:30pm
Learning Chinese Calligraphy
Celebrate the Lunar New Year by learning Chinese calligraphy with Peter. Take a glimpse into the history, tradition, philosophy, and practical use of the tools and methods of writing and painting with brush and ink. Peter will demonstrate how to set up your work space, writing Chinese characters without understanding the language (Chinese as well as Japanese), and how calligraphy and painting are closely connected. Location: Opus Art Supplies, 1360 Johnston Street
